Three-Star OL Blake Hickey transfers to TCU

Hickey was a three-star offensive lineman in the class of 2016 from nearby Godley, TX. He originally committed to Kansas State, but recently changed his mind and will instead stay close to home and enroll at TCU this fall. Hickey was Kansas State’s second highest recruit this class after garnering all-state honors twice and all-district three times.

He is coming to TCU as a walk-on, having not been given a scholarship offer in the spring. Since he did commit and sign a letter of intent to Kansas State he will have to sit out this season, but he would have likely red-shirted at Kansas State or TCU anyway. Gary Patterson has said you can never have too much depth at any position in the Big 12, so adding Hickey is another coupe for the Frogs, who still have some questions on their offensive line going into this season. A gifted athlete, he was all-district in basketball as a freshman and the league’s Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore, he may not even end up on the offensive side of the ball, having played defensive end in high school as well. Now he will have a year to find where he stands at TCU.
