TCU unveiled another new Nike uniform this afternoon which will be worn against LSU next weekend in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium. This is the third special Pro Combat Series uniform that Nike has made for TCU in the past five seasons. The first was in 2009 which debuted against Utah and again in 2010 which debuted against Oregon State. Nike also designed TCU's Rose Bowl uniforms in 2011.

Over the years Nike and TCU have formed a special relationship. Although some Frog fans might not always love everything Nike designs for TCU, you can't deny that the relationship is beneficial for the Frogs. Not only do the flashy uniforms and chromed out helmets get college football fans talking, it gets the recruits talking as well.
Face it, when it comes to athletic apparel Nike is top dog. Kids love Nike and they want to wear Nike products. Recruits see their favorite college and professional athletes wearing Nike and they want to wear Nike also. When recruits come to visit TCU they are shown the Nike uniforms, gloves, and cleats specially made for TCU. Recruits will always have top of the line Nike equipment if they come play at TCU and that is important to them. It's not just about the products on the field either. Players want to look good off the field as well and Nike makes cool looking gear they can wear to class and around town.
Yes, other Universities have Nike products, but only a handful of schools get the treatment TCU gets. Nike isn't THE deciding factor for recruits when making their final decision, but it definitely helps in recruiting. Have you seen some of the stuff Adidas puts out? It usually ugly or just a copy of something Nike is doing.
The uniforms unveiled today are VERY cool. The all-black uniform "features purple highlights and bold white numbers that reflect the new spike design pattern." The helmet features "red accents that harken back to the horned frog's defense mechanism." The helmet also has TCU across the back instead of on the sides like we normally see. "The complete uniform honors the resilience of the horned frog and its influence on a small program, defined by an aggressive, fast offense, with an ability to upset powerhouse opponents."
As I mentioned above, if a recruit chooses to play at TCU, he will always have the best equipment available. This uniform is a "fully integrated uniform system incorporates the latest in Nike's performance innovation, where the athlete's baselayer works in concert with the entire uniform - true innovation from the inside out."
I have been a big fan of all the Pro Combat Series uniforms Nike has designed previously for TCU and this one does not disappoint either. I think it has a great look and I am a big fan of the helmet. I cant wait to see them in action next weekend against LSU.
