TCU in Macks Top Two

Daylon Mack has scholarship offers from schools all across the country, and the former Texas A&M commit is re-evaluating his options.

The four-star defensive tackle announced that he was de-committing from the Aggies Friday, and announced his new top schools the next day.

The 2015 Rivals100 recruit from Gladewater, Texas had publicly announced that TCU was in his top three in October. The Horned Frogs have now made the penultimate cut, with only the Tigers as their remaining competition.

"They're top defensive schools," Mack said of his two final choices. "Obviously they're two of the best teams defensively in the country."

Mack was "very impressed" with the Frogs' defense when he visited campus for TCU's 82-27 win over Texas Tech. He likes that TCU head coach Gary Patterson is so defensive-minded.

"Coach P. has three Big 12 Defensive Players of the Year in a row," he said. "So that definitely shows some dominance on that side of the ball. And they develop defensive guys and send them to the pros as well."

The All-American lineman said he has a great relationship with the entire coaching staff for the Frogs.

"It's great," he said. "I feel really comfortable, probably the most comfortable with the staff at TCU. I mean, I just feel so comfortable. They remind me so much of my coaches at home [in Gladewater]. And my coaches at home are really good friends with the TCU coaching staff."

Mack's parents also get along well with the TCU coaches. After his visit to TCU in October, the defensive tackle said it was "the most fun I've ever seen [my mom] have on a visit."

They are still set to visit LSU with Mack on Jan. 16, but there is no wondering how they feel about the Frogs.

"But as far as TCU, I know they really liked it up there and the coaching staff," he said.

TCU will get the last word in Mack's recruitment. He has one final visit to Fort Worth scheduled for the week before National Signing Day. He said he will announce his decision Feb. 4. The Frogs will be hoping to make the cut one last time.
