TCU defeats UTA 7-2, moves to 4-0 on the season

The Horned Frogs battled tonight and pulled away late thanks to an Evan Skoug home run and some great base running from Austen Wade and Nolan Brown. Wade stole two bases while Brown stole three tonight against the Mavericks of UT-Arlington. Mitchell Traver made his season debut but only lasted three innings and allowed the only two runs in the first inning. Charles King came in for Traver and pitched three hitless innings of relief. Jake Eissler got his first win after he pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Durbin Feltman came in and got an inning ending double play to end the eighth and Sean Wymer struck out the side in a scoreless ninth to seal the victory for the Frogs.

The game was tied 2-2 in the Top of the eighth when Austen Wade led off with a walk. Two batters later Evan Skoug went opposite field for his first homer of the season and gave TCU a 4-2 lead. Jake Eissler returned for the bottom of the eighth but got in trouble which led to TCU going to closer Durbin Feltman with two on and one out in the eighth. Feltman got the double play thanks to Austen Wade's strong throw home after a fly ball and a headsy play by Zach Humphreys behind the plate to tag the runner after he slid past home plate.

TCU added three insurance runs in the ninth thanks to hustle by TCU that led to a couple of errors by UTA. A double by Zach Humphreys and a single by Austen Wade gave the Frogs a five-run lead going into the ninth.
