The TCU Football team continues to recruit players from Louisiana well and today they add another phenomenal athlete with John Stephens Jr. joining #CarterBoys18.
Stephens is a 6-foot-4 210 pound athlete from Logansport, LA. TCU offered Stephens back on April 27th and they have stayed on top until today when Stephens made it official. The Horned Frogs are adding a player from a winning program and a very athletic family.
John Jr. is the son of former 1988 AFC Rookie of the Year running back John Stephens, who played for the Patriots from '88-'92 and Delona Pennington, who ran the 400 meter and 4 x 400 relay at Northwestern State. His great-uncle, Pete Barnes played linebacker in the NFL for 10 years. John Jr. is the half-brother of tennis professional Sloane Stephens.
Stephens has played multiple positions over his three years at Logansport and most recently played defensive end and wide receiver after playing cornerback and wide receiver his first two seasons. He's gone from a 5-foot-7 140 pound freshman to a six-foot-4 210 pound junior and will continue to add some more bulk going into his senior season. He's the Patterson Special, a great athlete with plenty of size and skill to play multiple positions. He could stay at wide receiver or play on the defensive side of the ball under Gary Patterson. The mad scientist in Gary will love having a player such as John to develop.
