TCU won Shawn Robinson's debut Saturday.
TCU won Shawn Robinson's debut Saturday.

TCU went into Lubbock missing key players. Kenny Hill, Travin Howard, Nico Small, and Johnathan Song were all unavailable on Saturday's game against Texas Tech. The shorthanded Frogs didn't seem to miss a beat as they took down the Red Raiders 27-3. Let's look at some plays that helped TCU route Texas Tech.

Turpin Time

The Red Raiders took a 3-0 lead after their opening possession. The Frogs, led by true freshman Shawn Robinson, answered with a scoring drive of their own. TCU however, ended their drive with a touchdown. Facing third-and-goal, KaVontae Turpin ran for a two-yard score to put the Frogs up 7-3.

Kicking troubles continue for Tech

The kicking game has been a struggle for the Red Raiders all season and it didn't let up on Saturday. Tech had several opportunities to cut into TCU's lead but missed two field goals. After forcing a fumble, Tech found themselves at the Frogs six-yard line. Unable to get the ball into the end zone, the Red Raiders settled for a 20-yard field goal attempt. The kick was... no good, not even close.

Points! Finally!

In the final minutes of the third quarter, Robinson connected with Jalen Reagor for a 12-yard touchdown pass. The score increased the Frogs lead 17-3 and provided the first points of the second half by either team.

Gladney to the house!

With under five minutes remaining in the game, Tech found themselves in scoring position. The Red Raiders attempted to not be held without a touchdown was foiled by Jeff Gladney. Gladney intercepted Nic Shimonek and ran it back 93-yards for the pick-six.

TCU will finish the regular season this Friday in Fort Worth against the Baylor Bears. The Frogs will be looking to earn their third 10 or more-win season in the past four years.
