This One Hurt
The Frogs season is over and I hate that it ended this way. I hate that TCU was in position to tie the game but shot themselves in the foot with a costly turnover. I hate that the Frogs lost. Even more, I hate that the Frogs lost to Baylor. I hate that this was the last game of the season and we have to sit on this loss until next August. Even with all of that being said, I was proud of the effort this group displayed on Saturday afternoon.
The Frogs lost the game, and I am not into moral victories, but Saturday was one of the few times this season that TCU played like most of us expect TCU to play. Yes, the Frogs gift wrapped Baylor 21 points, but they left it all on the field and you can't really ask for much more.
I am going to miss the seniors on this team. Jason Verrett has become one of my all-time favorite Horned Frogs and will be extremely hard to replace. I look forward to seeing him in the NFL because he has the potential to be VERY good at the next level.
I am also anxious to see what becomes of Casey Pachall. Will he get drafted? If not, what team will invite him to training camp? Although Pachall has been a headache for the fans at times, I am really going to miss seeing him in a TCU uniform. Pachall went through a lot of rough times with off the field issues and injuries on the field but he always fought through it. That says a lot about him as a person and I hope he succeeds in whatever comes next.
Chris Del Conte deserves a shout out as well. I love that he opened up the student section and let fans wearing purple or black sit down there. I watched the game from the front row and had an awesome time. It was great having a home game with nice weather and a good start time. It was by far the best atmosphere of the season at The Carter.
The loss to Baylor hurt. I am still not over it and I have a feeling this one might linger for a few days. I can't imagine how the players are feeling today. It is a long off-season ahead for this program but it should be an interesting one. What coaches will be fired? Will any of the coaches be fired? Who will be brought in? Who will declare for the NFL Draft? Who will step up and win the QB job?
There are a lot of questions to be answered and hopefully the answers to those questions are what we all want to hear. Even though this loss hurt, it also got me really excited for 2014. The Frogs were in almost every game this season and I think this team will come back hungry for success.
August 2014 can't get here quick enough.
