10 Things About the Frogs 2012 Season

I like stats. Sometimes I get too caught up in the numbers, but they are fun to look at and think about. I was going over some number this morning, so I thought I would pass some of them along.

1. The Frogs defense only allowed two running backs to rush for over 100 yards against them this season. Both backs were from Oklahoma schools, Joseph Randle (OSU) and Damien Williams (OU). Randle had 32 carries for 126 yards. Williams had 115 yards on 18 carries.

2. In the Frogs five losses this season, the average margin of defeat was 11.8 points.

3. TCU closed the regular season at 7-5 overall and 4-5 in its first year in the Big 12. It marks the eighth straight season and 11th time in Gary Patterson's 12 years that TCU has a winning record.

4. Despite the Frogs moving to a new conference with more high powered offenses, TCU allowed less yards per game this season (332 ypg) than they did in 2011 (346 ypg).

5. The Horned Frogs have had 13 sellouts in their last 14 home dates and 15 of the past 20. This fan base has really come along way over the past few seasons.

6. The Frogs played much better on the road than at home this season despite having more completions, total yards, yards per game, and touchdowns at home than away.

7. The TCU offense had three different receivers total over 400 yards receiving this season (Boyce, Carter, and Dawson). The Frogs also had three different receivers catch five touchdowns or more (Boyce, Carter, and Brown).

8. Freshman B.J. Catalon led the Frogs in rushing this season with 562 yards but only had double digit carry totals in seven of the twelve games. Catalon also had 23 receptions.

9. Waymon James was averaging 9.9 yards per carry before suffering a season ending injury early in the season.

10. The TCU defense forced an interception in 11 of 12 games this season. The Frogs had 21 interceptions this season which is third best in the FBS.
