Tunsil 'had a ball'

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Columbia (Lake City, Fla.) offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil is in the middle of a rigorous visit schedule.

He visited Alabama last weekend (January 18), and will now visit Ole Miss (January 25) and Florida State (February 1) in the next two weeks.

This past weekend, Tunsil was took his second visit in the last year and his third overall to Georgia, and despite having spent quite a bit of time getting to know those in the UGA program, the Bulldog staff was still able to show him something new.

"On Friday, we ate at the office, and met some of the players and hung out with some of the players," said Tunsil. "I met the wide receivers coach, Coach (Tony) Ball, and the new defensive line coach, Coach (Chris) Wilson. They stood out. They are pretty cool, and pretty laid back. It was good."

On Sunday, at the Tunsil's request, the nation's top offensive lineman according to Rivals.com joined a number of other Georgia players and 2013 prospects that have already enrolled at UGA for a paintball match.

The five-star offensive tackle admits to having a lot of fun paintballing for the first time, but came away impressed with how the Georgia coaching staff made the experience possible.

"It was fun. It was real fun. I enjoyed myself out there," said Tunsil. "I had a great time and have a good relationship with those guys. I talked to some of the players and got to see how the coaches are. It was cool for them to make that happen."

One thing Tunsil wasn't able to do on his official visit to UGA was meet players that he didn't already know.

But that might not be a bad thing for the Bulldogs because according to Tunsil, he knows quite a few guys already.

"It's funny, because I know everybody really. They put me around people that I know, so we just built that relationship even more," he said.

Should the blue chip tackle decide to play his college ball at Georgia, one player that would benefit greatly is 2013 quarterback and early enrollee Brice Ramsey.

Tunsil had a chance to spend some time with the four-star signal caller on his official visit, and believes the two are building a solid relationship already.

"I met Brice (Ramsey) when we went to the (Jacksonville) Jaguars game for the Super 24, so we know each other and we are building that relationship now," said Tunsil.

After having a chance to play paintball on Saturday, Tunsil joined the Georgia coaches for dinner at a suite overlooking the field at Sanford Stadium, and he came away fairly impressed with that experience as well.

"That was pretty nice," said Tunsil when asked about Saturday night's dinner at the stadium. "It was a good view and we saw the highlight film. You could see the stadium and it was cool."

Earlier this month, Tunsil told UGASports that in his summer visit to UGA, he almost committed to the Bulldogs.

But how did this visit compare to the visit this summer that has put Georgia in good position to land the Rivals100 prospect?

"They are about the same," he said. "I've been there twice, I have seen the same thing over and over now so now you just have to compare them."

With two official visits left on the calendar, Tunsil has just over a couple of weeks until he will end the recruiting process.

Going into his third official visit to Ole Miss, Tunsil says that two teams are on top right now and those two programs have been the ones most commonly associated with his recruitment.

"I'm just taking a visit to Ole Miss and stuff to see how the campus is, but I just have a top two and that is Georgia and Alabama," said Tunsil when asked about his top schools. "Both schools are hard working teams. The players have good character and the environment is great."

For those wondering, the date, time, and place have been set for Tunsil's long awaited decision with which one fan base will be elated and others will be disappointed.

"I'm deciding on ESPNU on February 6 at 9:30 (a.m.) in the (Columbia High School) auditorium," he said.
