Bulldogs land four-star JUCO WR

Mississippi State did not have a shot at Corey Smith when he was ranked as one of the top high school prospects in the 2011 class.

But when the four-star wide receiver transferred into their backyard at East Mississippi Community College this fall the Bulldogs took full advantage. MSU got in the mix with Smith and earned his commitment on Sunday.

"They have been recruiting me ever since I got here," Smith said. "That was a big factor. I think they got on me the second day after I got here. I like their schemes and how I'm going to be getting the ball. There is just a lot of stuff I like and enjoy about them."

The Akron, Ohio native committed to Tennessee out of high school but never made it to Knoxville. Smith found out he would not meet the graduation requirements at his high school so he earned his GED and enrolled at Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College in what would have been his senior year of high school.
