Stokes claims Big East offer

Orlando (FL) Lake Highland defensive end prospect Landon Stokes looks to be primed for a long recruitment in the coming year. As it stands now he holds an offer from a Big East program.

Syracuse University was down at Stokes high school in the spring and he made a great first impression.

"Syracuse is looking at me. I got to see one of their coaches before this year started during one of our spring practices," Stokes said. "The coach just pulled me aside and was like "Hi, how are you doing I coach at Syracuse and we want to be the first college to offer you a scholarship." They offered then."

What did Stokes think of the news?

"I was really excited about it, because I actually have heard a lot of good things about the college from one of their players who was a graduate from Lake Highland.

That current member of the Orange is Zachary McCarrell.

"He just tells me that it is a really nice campus, the atmosphere at the games are great and just stuff like that."

There is one other item that has caught the eye of the Sunshine State product and it has to do with something that just happened off of the field.

"I like that they are going to the ACC because the ACC is obviously a tough conference so that means playing against better competition which is always good."

In high school stokes plays defensive end and even though he would like to stay there he is open to moving around.

"Since I have played defensive end all through high school I would like to play that position in college as well. I feel like I might also get put in the linebacker position at some schools on the next level."

Besides the Orange Stokes is also receiving early interest from Florida State, Mississippi, and North Carolina State.
