Hunter looks closely at four
Chuck Hunter is one of a pair of three-star defensive tackles in North Louisiana. The other is Demarcus Hodge. Both players have been to Louisiana Tech several times this summer and both players offer sheets look nearly identical.
Chuck is extremely interested in playing on the same team with his cousin, Michael Hunter. Michael plays cornerback for the West Monroe Rebels.
Chuck has narrowed his search for a college to four, but says that Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama have started sending him lots of mail of late. Those four schools are Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech and TCU. He says that all four of those schools are pretty even as of now. However, he only mentioned his cousin playing at three of the four; Mississippi State, TCU and Louisiana Tech.
The reason he likes TCU is he has an opportunity to play early, the coaches treat him like family, he knows he will get a good private education there, and they are talking about offering his cousin.
What he likes about Ole Miss is that it is a school on the rise in the SEC and they are poised to knock off some of the big boys in the future and he said "I wouldn't mind being a part of that."
He likes Mississippi State because of the coaching staff, the possibility of Michael playing there, and because it's in the SEC.
He likes Louisiana Tech because it is close to his home in West Monroe, La., coach Stan Eggen is a good coach, he said Michael has an offer from Tech, and he has a chance to play early.
Chuck's strength as a defensive tackle is getting through the line of scrimmage and disrupting the play. Last season as a junior, he was doubled teamed often. This season, the coaches at West Monroe want to move Chuck around on the defensive line to avoid those double teams. West Monroe is poised to make a major run at the state championship.
Hunter's strength is good too as he bench presses 345 pounds and squats 615 pounds. For 6 feet tall 295 pounds, Chuck moves well too with a 4.94 40 yard dash time.
Hunter would like to make a decision by January, but mentioned that if the process became too big of a distraction for him he would make his decision sooner.
Chuck Hunter is listed as a three-star prospect, the number 14 player in the state of Louisiana, and the number 24 defensive tackle in the country.
