French breaks it down

Last summer, Christian French was getting ready for his junior year hoping he could earn a scholarship offer to play either football or basketball in college. One year later, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound French is ranked among the top football players in the nation and holds over a dozen offers from schools all around the country. As he gets ready for his senior year, we caught with French to talk about his recruiting, a recent visit to Iowa, when he plans to make his decision, and much more.

Q: There was a report on your visit to Notre Dame last week (link), but was your last visit before that to Iowa this summer?

FRENCH: Yeah, a couple weeks before Notre Dame, I went to Iowa.

Q: What all did you get to do on that visit?

FRENCH: It was just another chance to talk some of the other players and hang out with them for a little while. We got to see some workouts and talk to guys like Ricky Stanzi, Keenan Davis, and A.J. Derby. Then, we talked more in-depth with the coaches like Coach Campbell, Coach Ferentz, and Coach Morgan. We talked a lot about their academics and went through the campus again too.

Rivals.com currently ranks French at No. 84 in the Rivals100 and as the top recruit in the state of Iowa this year. To date, the four-star prospect holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Notre Dame, Missouri, Oregon, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, and South Florida.
