October 16, 2012TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga will be a gametime decision Saturday against Texas Tech and could need surgery in the offseason, head coach Gary Patterson said.
Maponga missed the second half against Baylor after suffering a foot injury. Maponga's status will be week-to-week depending on "how much pain he can tolerate," Patterson said.
The junior from Carrolton led the team with nine sacks last year.
True freshman Josh Carraway could start getting more involved at the position, Patterson said. Devonte Fields, also a freshman, has started opposite of Maponga at defensive end and leads the Big 12 in sacks with 6.5
Check back with Purple Menace later in the day for a complete recap of Patterson's press conference.
