There were several subplots to this game between TCU and Kansas State when it was first scheduled. Even more were added to it just before the game kicked off and Texas A&M knocked off Alabama.

"I think they knew about it and it helped them," TCU head football coach Gary Patteron said. "That's why they came out just two minutes before kick off. They knew Alabama lost and I think it gave them more motivation."
