Report: TCU coach Jim Christian headed to Ohio
Reports by CBSSports.com's Jeff Goodman and other subsequent reports have TCU coach Jim Christian headed to Ohio University to replace Jim Groce, who was recently hired by Illinois.
No official confirmation from TCU had taken place as of Sunday night and texts and emails to Frogs' officials were not returned.
Reports last month indicated that Christian was a top candidate for the Rhode Island and Christian was scheduled to be in New Orleans for the Final Four over the past weekend.
Christian has been at the Frogs' helm since 2008 and has compiled a 56-73 record but led TCU to its first winning season since 2005 and guided the Frogs to the College Basketball Invitational postseason tournament in March.
Christian's only other head coaching stop was at Kent State, where he helped guide the Golden Flashes to two conference championships and NCAA tournament berths in 2006 and 2008 before he was hired by the Frogs.
His salary at TCU is just under $600,000 and the Frogs are scheduled to join the Big 12 this summer, making Christian's salary much lower than the rest of the league's average.
The CBSSport.com report stated that the deal for Christian to take over at the Bobcats' helm was indeed done and would likely be announced as early as Tuesday.
We will continue to monitor this situation and, if it indeed turns out to be true, will highlight several candidates for the coaching vacancy and what the Frogs should and will look at going forward.
