Sooners Try to Change Their Fortune in Texarkana
With the exception of former Sooner wide receiver Brandon Jones the Texarkana area has traditionally been a tough recruiting area during the Bob Stoops era. And though there is plenty of fight left in the recruitment of Texarkana Texas high offensive lineman John Michael McGee Oklahoma has plenty of reason to feel good about their place with the 6-foot-4, 265-pound lineman.
Recently the East Texas standout had his first chance to see Oklahoma up close and personal.
"We had a game in Denison and I stayed with some family in Ft. Worth and seeing some of the guys from the OU camp," McGee said. "While I was there I saw Chris Thomas and the three (Vaitai) brothers from Haltom City, they sat right in front of me.
"It was a crazy atmosphere it reminded me of our rivalry game against Arkansas but except a lot more people."
